The Artist

The fantastical, oddities and the beauty of storytelling has always enamoured Blodeuwedd, a Welsh born photographer and collage artist. The enchanting world of dreams and fairytales in all their peculiarities, is place in which her imagination thrives, accentuated by the beauty of her natural surrounding after moving to the Lake District.

Blodeuwedd graduated from Falmouth University in 2023. At Falmouth she studied photography but it was through the mentorship of one of her lecturers during one creative workshop that she discovered collage. Through a great deal of self study and experimentation she began to find her own style, and occasionally incorporates her own photography which is still a big part of her creative expression.

The Artwork

My most recent artworks belong to a larger ongoing project with the working title ‘Evening Sea-Weed’. This series is a confrontation of my memory, developing a narrative through which I can communicate my perceptions and fears in regards to time, using the iconography of the garden to tell the story.

The artworks allude to a fictional landscape where memories, embodied by the idea of home and homeware are washed ashore to be forgotten amongst the overgrown hedge of the garden. These objects encapsulate the fear and desperation in which we try to find the shadows of ourselves and yet simultaneously the interconnected disregard we have for things we once held dear.

This artwork on the left is a collage called 'Trebah' named after a garden in Falmouth Cornwall that I once visited. I am particularly fond of this garden not only for the time I spent there but also the unique environment in which the garden leads onto a beach. This allowed me to play with ideas of how these 'lost' items could find themselves in the garden.
